Ruben Garza, PA, has joined Dallas Medical Center (DMC) as the new Chief
Executive Officer. He joins DMC after serving nearly four years as a Transitional
CEO for Prime Healthcare, the parent company of DMC.
Since joining Prime Healthcare, Garza served as the Interim CEO at six
newly-acquired hospitals in Alabama, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas over
the course of four years; however, he brings more than 30 years of healthcare
experience and success with him to DMC.
Prior to his role at the corporate level, Garza spent 17 years as the Vice
President of Administrative Services and Director of Insurance and Accreditation
at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. There he was responsible for
the overall strategic direction and operations for clinical and non-clinical
services of the hospital and affiliated organizations, including a medical group.
He received numerous accolades and attained many accomplishments in the
areas of corporate compliance, risk management, safety and security, and
clinic growth and development. Some of the many notable achievements the
hospital received under Garza include: Primary Stroke Center certification,
designation as a Level III Trauma Center, and Joint Commission survey
scores of 95% or higher for more than 16 years.
Garza received his certification as a Physician Assistant in Diagnostic
Radiology from the University of Kentucky, and received his Bachelor of
Science in Healthcare Management from Independence University.
